Mission Statement

REScoalition was created in 2003 as a 501.c.6 business league to create a voice for residential service providers on business issues. This includes legislation impacting our services, business practices, and creating a voice with our elected officials. Community Care Facilities are the only type of vendor in the state that must rely on the full legislature to grant us funding increases. We are also subject to more regulatory oversight than over 97% of businesses in California. REScoalition seeks to, for the first time, build bridges with the community to ensure our businesses are being protected.

Guiding Principles

• Nothing about Residential Services without our input.
• First seek to understand then be understood.
• Look for new collaborations and partnerships.
• Look at the demands of the future, NOT the success or failure of the past.
• Advocacy is supply side politics.
• Be seen and heard.

What is RESCoalition?

RESCoalition is a business league (501.c.6) of residential service providers serving the developmentally disabled community.

Is this for any residential provider serving the developmentally disabled?

No, the business league is designed to support those residential service providers that are licensed by community care licensing – Small family homes, Group homes, and Adult Residential facilities.

Why is RESCoalition restricting itself to this group of service providers?

RESCoalition is intended to create a collective voice for residential service providers. Other vendors such as ICF’s and ARFE’s have other groups that already act on their behalf.

What is a 501.c.6?

The 501.c.6 designation is the Internal Revenue Service designation for non profit business leagues.

What if I am a member of other groups?

The more members RESCoalition has the greater the clout in Sacramento. Different provider groups have different benefits, goals, and relationships. Often their main goals are locally oriented – with the regional center, etc. Keep in mind the goal of RESCoalition is to support residential services in California. This also means supporting other residential provider groups. It is our hope that in times of need we can collaborate together for the better good vs. the petty infighting that has occurred in the past.
It is not unusual for a business to be a member of the BBB, their local business league, and other business groups at the same time.

Can I be a member if I am not a residential services vendor?

RESCoalition does allow associate memberships on a case by case basis.

Why do we have to register and become members to access all of the resources?

Membership is an important part of the process of ensuring that those using and benefiting from this site (and RESCoalition) residential service providers. Our issues are unique and may include candid discussions about our business needs that may on occasion contradict Regional Center, Community Care Licensing, Parents, and other vendor needs.

What is the website?

The website was designed to be a one stop shop for residential service providers – frequently used forms, forums, discussion, and informative updates are all available.

Do I have to post who I am on the forum?

No, the forums have specifically been designed to allow each vendor to be anonymous if they choose.

Where do my dues go and what do they pay for?

Since RESCoalition has no paid employees at this time, 100% of your dues are utilized for services and advocacy. Your dues go toward the maintenance of this website. In addition they go toward the cost of advocating our needs within Sacramento. This includes air, vehicles, meals, etc.
